ICTAU Embarks On New Strategic Direction

THE ICT Association of Uganda (ICTAU), a private sector-led organisation representing the ICT Sector in Uganda, has embarked on a new strategic direction with the launch of a fresh three-year Strategic Plan and appointment of a new Board of Directors.

The ICTAU aims at creating an effective network between all industry practitioners, researchers, developers and policy makers to facilitate collaboration in the development of ICT in Uganda.

ICTAU Founder and Chairperson, Albert Mucunguzi, said the new three-year Strategy of the ICTAU was designed to consolidate its position as the primary private-sector led membership organisation for the ICT sector and a reliable partner for the government to consult in policy making.

In the new Strategy, posted online at (insert link to website) the focus of the ICTAU will be to:

  1. Develop and promote a competitive ICT sector in Uganda
  2. Develop and implement formal partnerships with key stakeholders
    in the ICT sector
  3. Support the development of an ICT technology HUB/Park in Uganda for
    Uganda
  4. Develop world class Ugandan ICT institutions through increased
    professionalism
  5. Establish the organisation as the principal partner in governance and the implementation of e-system initiatives

“Ultimately we will focus all our efforts and energies at ensuring that all private and public stakeholders within the ICT sector work together to make the sector grow and succeed as an essential part of Uganda’s development,” said Albert Mucunguzi, ICTAU Chairperson.

Mucunguzi said the theme of all ICTAU activities in the first year of the Strategic Plan will be: “The importance and impact of ICT in Uganda’s sustainable development.”

Mucunguzi leads a team of newly-elected Directors that include: Teddy Ruge, Joan Katambi, Daniel Kalibbala, Boaz Shani, Dennis Rwatooro Tusiime, Simon Kaheru, Cedric Muhebwa and Samson Tusiime.
